      Team Clendanan

Here at FCA we are excited to report that Team Clendenan, a  girls curling team from the Port Carling area, has recently earned a berth in the Provincial finals competition. This is the highest level of competition for curlers aged 16 and under.  FCA is going into our second year of sponsoring these amazing young girls to help them achieve their dreams. In preparation for the playoffs, the girls have been training both on and off the ice and  have also played 60 games on the Ontario Junior Curling Tour throughout the curling season. They have put plenty of hard work, talent and dedication to their craft.

Team Clendenan has braved fierce competition to reach their present level of achievement. Southern Ontario is divided into four Regions of four zones each, making a total of 16 zones. Within each zone, about 20 clubs  each send their best teams to their respective Zone playoffs. Only two  teams will advance to Regionals from each zone. Regionals are a play off between those  top eight teams  and again, only two teams from each Region proceed  to Provincials. For bantam aged players, this is the highest level of competition because they cannot compete nationally until they reach the next age category (Juniors) for players 21 and under. Incidentally, Team Clendenan is currently ranked tenth in Ontario among Bantams and Juniors combined. We are very proud of these girls and we look forward to their continuing success in the future. They are already winners to us!
